As a postcard in time, the fortified city of Ait-Ben Haddou is presented in Morocco. Declared Patrimony of the Humanity in 1987, and that was the perfect stage for films like The Mummy, Gladiator, The Jewel of the Nile, Jesus of Nazareth, Lawrence of Arabia, among others.

The image that Ait Ben Haddou offers us with his Berber architecture is really a film. Surprise in the sunrises of Morocco. Coronating a risk of one hundred meters of altitude, in the region of Souss-Massa-Draa, this fortified city stopped in the time in spite of being of adobe, is conserved very well with its ocher colors.

The heat of the desert is mixed with the dry terrain where once there was a salt river and, sometimes with the flood rains reborn and gives life to the crops that develop around the small village, which holds as a dream.

The Kasbah is a combination of conjoined family homes that were banded together as a form of denfense when originally built. Once there were enough families to create the fortifies village we see today, Kasbah became a city. Ait Ben Haddou built large walls to protect their harvest and palm trees that grew along the river banks.

These villages were known as significant argicultural sites as well as places for merchants to sell their textiles and as warrior communities. Ait Ben Haddou was orginially a predominantly agriculturally-oriented economy and because of that was built along a former carravan route between Marrakech and the Sahara Desert for transporting goods and food.
