Travel to CASABLANCA42.jpg

Chefchaouen is considered as "the jewel of the north", one of the most beautiful enclaves of the Rif. It was a refuge for the Andalusians who fled the Christian conquest of the kingdom of Granada and then for the Moors and Jews who escaped or were expelled from Spain during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, giving the city its unique character.

With its houses painted in indigo blue, this holy city offers rich local craftsmanship and a peace that is difficult to find today.

Fez, the most complete medieval medina in the Arab world, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walking through the different neighbourhoods with their guilds unleashes the five senses, transporting us to past worlds among craftsmen, potters, tanners...

Meknes, is a lively capital of provinces and wine center of Morocco. During the reign of Sultan Moulay Ismail, of the Alaoui dynasty, Meknes lived a time of splendour becoming the "Moroccan Versailles". In 1996 it was declared a World Heritage Site.

Rabat is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the country. As a political centre, it is home to embassies and official buildings. But the walls, the Kasbah, the medina and the Tour Hassannos remember the long history of the city.

Casablanca, Morocco's largest city and economic capital of the kingdom, is located on the Atlantic coast south of the capital Rabat. It is the most populous city in the whole country, with almost 6 million inhabitants.

Its foundation dates back to the 2nd century B.C. of which archaeological remains are still preserved in a settlement known as Chellah.
  • In 1195, during the Almohad dynasty, Yaqub al-Mansur planned the construction of a large city covering more than four hundred hectares, surrounded by imposing walls and fortifications with five large gates. A large mosque with four hundred columns was to be erected there to surpass the Giralda of Seville and the Koutoubia of Marrakech, but the works were stopped after his death in 1199. Only the 44-metre minaret called Torre Hasan survived, twenty fewer than initially planned.

02/05/2019: CASABLANCA - MEKNES - FEZ

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  •  Panoramic visit of Casablanca, the largest city in Morocco and economic capital of the kingdom. It is located on the Atlantic coast south of the capital Rabat.  It is the most populous city in the whole country, with almost 6 million inhabitants. Here we can admire the Hassan II Mosque, designed by the French architect Michel Pinseau. It was inaugurated in 1993 after 22 years of work, this mosque is the highest in the Arab world, the lights of its minaret, 200 meters high, can be seen from several miles away, and is the second largest after the mosque of Mecca. This architectural work has the latest technologies such as earthquake resistance, automatic roof opening, heated floor and electric doors.
  •  Continue to Meknes and visit with local guide... The history of Meknes (a UNESCO World Heritage City since 1996) is inextricably linked to the person of Moulay Ismail, founder of the Alaouite dynasty. Ambitious, visionary and brilliant architect, he remodeled and embellished the city, following the example of Louis XIV of France, to obtain a "Moroccan Versailles".
  •  Moulay Ismail built walls, sumptuous palaces, mosques, medersas, gardens and fountains, which still surprise us today for their beauty and variety.
  • In his ambition to emulate the French monarch, they say he asked for the hand of his daughter, Mademoiselle de Blois, Conti's widow Princess. Kindly the Sun King declined the request, although in return, he sent her a beautiful collection of watches, which they say still adorn his beautiful palace of Meknès, Dar El Makhzén.
  •  He seems to have consoled himself by having more than 500 concubines and up to 867 children, although none of them has gone down in history for continuing or enlarging his legacy. Thus the city of Meknes continues to be an example of Spanish-Moroccan architecture, faithful to its origins in the seventeenth century, when it was briefly an imperial capital.
  •  Lunch on the way *not included and then continue to Fez.
  •  Arrival at the hotel in Fez, delivery of rooms and dinner.

 03/05/2019: FEZ

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  •  Today we will dedicate the day to enjoy the city of Fez.
  •  Actually, Fez is three cities in one. The new city, founded by the French in 1920,, Fez el Bali and Fez el Jedid or Fez la Nueva, an extension of the previous metropolis, made under the dynasty of the Benimerines in the thirteenth century. But it is, without any doubt, the medieval labyrinth with more than 9,400 streets that makes Fez el Bali the most attractive of Fez. The different professional guilds that coexist there are distributed in different neighborhoods according to the specialty that they exercise. There are neighborhoods for the craftsmen, the potters, forgers, tailors... Getting lost in the souk of Fez becomes a pleasure for the senses if you let yourself be carried away by instinct and smell. The streets, winding and very narrow, and the houses, very high, let a few rays of sunshine pass by forming enigmatic and mysterious plays of light and shadow; something that increases the sensation of being in another world.
  • Mirrors, perfumes, chickens, pigeons, silverware, gold, slippers, sandals, chilabas, drums, vegetables, fruits, pottery, ceramics, forged products, herbs (nothing illegal), spices, portraits of the king, cereals, books, glassware and everything imaginable is here. The constant rattling of the donkeys, loaded with goods from different origins, transports you to a dreamy world broken only by the cry of "barak" which the animal’s owner says to warn pedestrians of the donkey.
  •  Meeting in reception and visit of Fez. We will start the day visiting Fez el Jedid to see the Aluita square, Royal Palace and the giving of the Makhzen. We will continue towards Fez el Bali, its medina, with more than 7,000 streets and 83,000 shops where we will see spice sellers. We finish the morning with a visit to the Es Attarin Madrasa, a work of art of Islamic architecture, the Fez Museum and Es Seffarin Square near the tanneries.
  •  Walking through the labyrinthine streets of Fez transports you to past worlds in which potters, forgers and craftsmen coexist with the foreign visitor, who never ceases to be surprised by observing its people and smelling the multiple aromas and smells that flood the atmosphere of this city.
  •  Free afternoon in Fez.
  • Dinner at the hotel in Fez.

 04/05/2019: FEZ - CHEFCHAOUEN - TANGER

  • Breakfast at the hotel and check out
  •  Early departure to Chaouen, a mysterious village where most of its houses are painted indigo blue making it unforgettable. Chefchaouen was founded as a secret place to attack the Portuguese. It is installed on the north coast of Morocco. Europeans were forbidden to enter Chefchaouen until the arrival of Spanish troops in 1920.
  • It is located within a natural biosphere reserve, on the slopes of the Jbel Tisouka and Jbel Megou (mountains of the Rif mountain range.)
  • Chaouen is a holy city hanging on the mountain, its streets painted white and blue, villa people wise, friendly and respectful, and offer the visitor beautiful urban panoramas. It boasts precious samples of local crafts and a peace and serenity that is difficult to find today.
  •  Visit of Chaouen and free time for lunch.
  •  Depart to Tangier.
  • Founded by Anteo (atlas), son of Neptune and the Earth, he named it after his wife (tingo) or daughter (tinga). Anteo was killed by Hercules, son of Jupiter. His tomb is situated on one of the hills surrounding the city, "the hill of the charf". It is also said that the "Gardens of the Hesperides" flourished there, where their trees produced golden fruits.
  • Although it was somewhat abandoned for years, Tangier has changed into a very interesting city in which to discover Morocco.
  • It is completely renovated thanks to the fact that the present king has invested firmly on the development of the north of Morocco. He also set up his summer residence here. Many people speak Spanish, so the language will give you an advantage. Remember that Tangier belonged to the Spanish protectorate until 1956.
